First Week Down

I’m done with my first week of student teaching, and although it was only a 3.5 day week it felt like a month! Don’t get me wrong, it’s been a great experience but I’m whooped! I have only been observing so far, with the exception of a few small tasks, and to be honest I was ready to do something day two. Observing is getting pretty boring and I think I’m in for another week of it! I have been slightly disappointed with how things at this school are run, there seems to be a never ending supply of worksheets. I think they have their place but not in everything all the time. The school uses what is called a pacing calendar which dictates what they will be teaching when. Everyone has to be teaching the same thing at the same time and this, I think, is the reason for the abundance of worksheets. Anyway, I’m excited to see what’s next and hope my endurance increases some so I’m not so tired at the end of the day!
