Adventures in Homedale: The bunnies

This is a picture of the adorable baby bunnies that Jeff found at the Homedale house today. Jeff found them while mowing the lawn.... He was riding around mowing some huge weeds and said a bunny came running out from where he had JUST mowed. There were at least four bunnies in a nest. He came and got us to see them. They let us hold them and coo over them. While looking at all of them we noticed that although it was a miracle that they were alive at all, after being run over by a mower, one of the little guys had lost an ear in the accident. I think that may be one of the saddest things I HAVE EVER SEEN! We are hoping his ear heals up and we see the one-eared rabbit hopping around the property. That is if the bazillion hawks out there don't get him first. Well, Jeff left the little line of tall weeds that they were still trying to hide in in hopes of keeping them safe from the hawks. I tried my best sad face and asked if we could keep them but it didn't work. Jeff said we were already keeping them because they lived at our house. Well, he's got me there. Sam spent the next 15 minutes looking for the missing ear...hopefully he isn't traumatized. :)

This is not the one-eared bunny, we didn't want to touch him and stress him out anymore than he already was.
