Eli is finally here! He was born yesterday at 6:08 6lbs 15oz just like his brother.
Yesterday morning I woke up about 8:00 because I had to go to the bathroom. I noticed that I was leaking fluid and got up with Sam. My contractions started to get worse and closer together so we decided it was time to go! We got to the hospital around 11:30. They had to start an IV because I was planning on having an epidural; unfortunately I have small veins so after MUCH poking, digging, searching and calling specialists they finally were able to the IV going. I was progressing steadily but they decided to get the epidural going in case they needed to start pitocin. They got the epidural in which was NOT comfortable but unfortunately my pain was not getting better but worse! Contractions kept coming and getting worse so the anesthesiologist tried adjusting the catheter… it didn't help. The only choice was to re-place the epidural. It took 30 min because apparently I have a "bony" back. The anesthesiologist said I will never break my back so I've got that going for me. By the time I was finally beginning to get relief it was time to push! Nikole got to the hospital just in time to hold a leg. After only 3-5 min of pushing Eli was here! They even let me pull him out which was really neat. As they were putting me back together I asked Nikole how work was, she answered by passing out. Seriously. A nurse guided her limp body to the ground and called for help. There were like 8 nurses in the room between Nikole on the floor, me being sewn up and Eli getting checked out. It was kind of comical. They used smelling salts to get her back up and sat her in a chair.
The doctor said I could officially say that I labored naturally! It I had the choice I would NEVER do that again! J It was a long hard day but we now have a beautiful sweet baby boy. He seems very quiet and curious so far, and looks like a little old man. I feel very blessed. Thank you for your prayers and support. I'm sure I left out a lot of info but I'm running on two hours sleep. More pictures to come later.
